I called about this but never heard back.

Still for sale, I see. Looks like an airport ground support vehicle. Might be worth a paint job in original colors/livery and use it in movies.

I'm not an early Ford guy but I dig this color combo!

Hope the seller adds more photos soon - looks to be a nice one!

Before and after photos, I assume?

The palm frond folded into a cross, stuck up into the visor. My dad did the exact same thing.
No A/C on this?

Woah. I like this. What's original and what's not?

This seller also has two Ford trucks for sale on CL, a '53 and a '34.

I saw and called about this one but it was already gone by then. Went quickly!

Gotta say, I even like it dusty!

Speaking as a '40s auto aficionado myself, there is a small contingent of younger '40s car enthusiasts that's sort of derived from the lowrider scene. Bombs. Mostly GM makes, they're largely kept original but many are highly accessorized with era-appropriate add-ons.
But aside from that, I too have noticed a lot of what Neil pointed out at the local car shows.

When I was a young child, my neighbor had one of these in very similar color. When I rode in it, I remember being fascinated with how absolutely luxurious and elegant it was, totally unlike anything my family drove. I should buy this out of nostalgia.

I might be able to go look at this in person if anyone has serious interest.

Gotta say, the coolest thing about this Not Mine for sale section is that it gets me interested in cars I had no idea that I liked. This is one!

My wife had a '63 Skylark and it was a blast to drive in the city. It had a lot of neat options (p/w, a/c, remote mirrors, etc) but the paint & body were fair at best. The 215 gave us no trouble and IIRC the only hang-up in finding parts was for the windshield washer pump. There look to be some nice '62 examples above!

I'm a sucker for a '40s fastback and if this were closer I'd be going to see it.

Woah, it even has the steering wheel clock option.

Thanks, everyone, for your excellent input and advice. While I think I'm going to pass on this particular one, you've given me a lot of info that will really help me when I look at another. I've really become a fan of these and don't know how they escaped my attention for as long as they have.

Marked sold! The seller did add some info to the original ad. Hope it's going to a good home!

Thanks all for the discussion!
This is the car:

I had a fantastic conversation last night and learned a lot about the goods and bads of this one as well as the Riviera line in general. Quite an education.
