  1. Hi folks.

Does anyone know if the brake lines on the '49 Roadmasters (or any other year, for that matter) are interchangable with the '48? I'm having a terrible time trying to get a line made for my '48 (master-cylinder-to-distribution-block line, the original is mangled and isn't good for template use) and some tubing places have brake line sets for the '49, not the '48.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I have included a photo of the cowl tags in question. The lower tag is beat-up, but the left rivet is still tight while the right one, while looking tampered with, is still attached as well.

As far as the engine code goes, I found a code stamped on a flat near the dipstick port; is this the correct engine number location? The shop manual mentions a seven-digit number, but this one is eight.

  3. Thanks for your replies, Dave & Leif!

And now I'm puzzled as well. I'll photograph the car and the tags...the car has Dynaflow and is badged as such on the fender script and trunk emblem. The tag with the trim/body info on it does look like it could have been changed at some point since it's beat-up somewhat, although I suppose someone ambitious could have changed the fender/trunk emblems...the plot thickens...

  4. Hello all,

I'm hoping someone can help me decode the cowl tags on my Roadmaster!

    VIN: 14711867

    Style: 4707

    Body: C-2059

    Trim: 76

    Paint: 822

I have to get the engine code since the engine was rebuilt before I got the car, and I'm not sure which kind of lifters it has (the stickers on the valve cover has been replaced so I can't go by that).

Thanks for any help you can give!

    -Mike

  5. Hello everyone,

This is my first post, as I patiently await delivery of a '48 Roadmaster Sedanette, which will be my second old Buick and first pre-1950 car. I've learned quite a bit about the car from reading this forum and I have a question I'm sure you can answer:

I've seen photos of some Roadmasters with Dynaflow that had the Dynaflow script on the fenders, but Buick Eight on the trunk emblem. Others have D-F on both the fenders and the emblem. Were there more criteria other than the car being equipped with Dynaflow?
