  1. I have a local shop who recores the original tanks.  It's the best I have seen yet and works amazing.  I just put in a US rad in a 65 GS and it came with free pin holes in the top tank, lol.  PM me, will help you out.

  2. Yes, do the Carter swap, you'll love it.  I just did the swap on a customer 65 Riv. The 4gc's are not horrible, but parts will dry up for those long before the afb's.  I think the driveability and power are better overall too.

  3. It takes a lot of patience, some wd40, and long skinny flathead screwdriver.  I have seen all types of "tricks" to get them off, but the only for sure is just taking your time and give them a bit of twist back/forth as you remove.  It's not 100%, but it's worked pretty well for me.  You have to remember, they are just held on with pressure.

  4. Selling a 1965 Buick Riviera 401/425 Throttle Linkage Arm w/ SP400 Switch Pitch Converter Switch.  These are impossible to find.  Switch works good and has the clips still on the arm.  The rollers on the bottom are nice, see pic.  Has the linkage for the single 4brl carb(fits either Carter or Rochester 4jet, same linkage for both).  $195 shipped.  I have a few of these, going to sell them all.  PM me if you just need a switch or just need linkage and I will do an ad for you for just that.  Thanks for looking, check my other ads for more 63-65 Riviera parts!

  5. Hi Lee, will do.  PM me your email and will send pics.  Sorry to hear about the wreck, that's horrible.  It's a blessing you found a front clip.  I tell all my customers and friends with old junk to basically have a spare car if you plan to keep it.  Parts are getting thin quick.

  6. I am in the process of rebuilding a 401 for a customer in a 65 Lark GS. Motor has less than 20k on it since being "rebuilt" by a local shop in So Carolina. Everything was shot- cam, bearings, pistons, everything.  Bad machine work will screw up anything.  You should try this, put a torque wrench on the crank when cold, see how torque it takes to turn it.  Do same when hot.  Make sure you pull the spark plugs when doing both, to be accurate.  This will tell you if the actual rotating assembly has too much friction from in-accurate clearaces.  FYI, did you check the timing?  Wrong ign timing will cause it to not start and cause it to stall out and a host of other problems.  Drain the oil?  Have rust in it?  Need to check the basics, but expect a rebuild.  Anything that sits that long, rings are shot, valve springs are shot.

  7. You're going backwards.  The dual quads are reliable as the single quad, but something is off with the rest of the tune.  Vacuum leaks are a big deal, just dropping on a single carb may/may not make it work better if by chance you fix the leaks/tune issue by acceident in replacing the carbs.  I can help you tune the 2x4, PM me your contact info and will get with you this week.

  8. Selling a set of real deal ORIGINAL Winters 64 65 425 Super Wildcat KX LX Finned "BUICK" Valve Covers. Condition is really nice, no pitting, no cracks. Somebody started to polish the "BUICK" letters on one cover, could blast and put back or polish the other to match. These are getting really hard to find in good shape, all the other ones I have seen lately are pitted to death or mislabeled 66 covers. $650 shipped.

  9. I have been cleaning shop and have decided to reduce a lot of my 63-65 Riv parts inventory.  I have lots of interior/exterior trim, AC parts, bumpers, chrome pieces, Nailhead parts, etc.  PM with needs and will see if I have it.  Everything is located in SoFlo, can ship anywhere in the world, international is no problem.

  10. I don't agree with that totally.  I have done 4hr+ trips in my 64 Riv and got out with zero pain. Super comfortable crusing car.  Mine has the standard interior, which does have the short armrest and gives more leg room, if you are tall/have long legs this helps.  Really depends on how big you are, as to how comfortable it is.  The passenger seat has no limitations, wife should be fine for extended trips.  That's my experience, at least.

  11. I have several 64/65 switch panels.  PM me, you can have one to do whatever you like.  A 65 one has no factory labels on it, the switches were labeled separate(I have those also).  You might put the extra switches in the console.  I made a flush plate for one a long time ago. Came out pretty good, everything ran under the console and came up into the bucket insert which has a step pattern on it which lends itself to a perfect flat recess.
