A brief for salvation...
My 1951 is a Montana car stored outside with deficient paint coverage - just mild surface rust, intact frame and floors, not even rusty threads on the bolts!

totally agree about the economics of a correct restoration. But wouldn't it be cool to make it basically functional and somewhat presentable? Uniqueness c an be as interesting as beauty.

The fact is that there is virtually no way to "break even" on any even a partial restoration. The incremental costs of storage and insurance, the value of "sunk time," and most especially the opportunity-cost of the funds tied up in the project will more than wipe out any margin between buying and selling price that exists on paper. So you may as while focus on something unique and beautiful. There's a reason that the saying is "For love OR money."

Is anyone reproducing vintage seat covers from the 1940s and 1950s. These were marketed by retailers like JC Whitney, Western Auto, or Firestone under a variety of brand names, like Rayco, They were made of vinyl-type plastic in bright patterns, especially plaid. Here's a sample pic from ebay.

Excuse my ignorance, but is the Pacific Coast Red Book saying that a 1930 Viking Convertible Coup that retailed for $1695 in 1930 was worth just $250 in December 1932?
