Buick man,
I just added my name to your friends list.
Now you have a friend to go along.

If you went to school when I did, automobiles, motorcycles and go carts had engines.
Vacuum cleaners had motors.
What you played with is how we could tell the boys from the girls!
Just because some people (including some dictionary from a foreign country where they talk funny anyway) call it a motor, doesn't make it a motor.

Just like everything in life, I have learned to accept the bad with the good.
I just had bad experiences selling my '36 International and my car trailer on Ebay .
I had a great experience selling my Model T a couple of months ago.
I am going to start selling a garage full of parts. Some of the sales will go good, some will go bad.
Some of the stuff would be of interest to people on this forum, and I will list them here.
Other things are too generic and I have to appeal to a larger audience and compete with retail prices on Amazon.
I think of it as a part time job for me for the next month or so.
Some days will be good. Some days will be bad.
Maybe I will try listing everything for sale on this forum for 50% of retail and see what happens. I prefer to do business with all of you.

Your son has it right!!!
Sell the Model A and anything else you have to to buy it.
Tell your wife you won't be spending all of your time (and $) fixing up the model A. You will have more time to spend with her and the family.
She won't like riding around in the Model A anyway.

Dave has the right idea. short of disassembly.
It's along shot, but you might try pulling out the starter. Mice built a nest in there in mine and when the starter turned, the bits of wrags got stuck between the teeth of the starter and the flyweel. As I said, it is a long shot.
Mostly, it takes patience.
Good luck,
Dwight

I checked the two brass Strombergs on my shelf:
B No. 3
G No. 1
Would either work with a 1922 Buick 4 cyl speedster or a 1930 Buick 6 cyl Master (AKA model 47)?
They sure are pretty!

Thanks Jon. I think I understand the aftermarket "J" and the company code.
-
Thanks Jon.
What do the numbers mean behind the "J"? Different ventori sizes?
-
WOW!
Jon, you are the man!!!!
Is there one for a1930 Standard (or model 47)?
Thanks,
Dwight

It looks like a '30 Buick Larry.
Does the ad say which Stromberg model?
-
I have been looking at these new Zeniths for a while.
The 267 looks like a winner for the 4 cyl.
Has anyone tried one?

Clever work Al

As Greg showed in the '24 Buick pic, it appears to be a threaded insert. I have been spraying it with PB Blaster everytime I go past it. I do not have a good strap wrench, so I will pick one up and give it a try this weekend.
I want to get it off because I was able to locate a knob with the "reverse H" pattern engraved on the top. They are probably somewhat rare and it will remind me not to try to start out in 3rd gear!

Hi All,
Does anyone know a trick to remove the gearshift knob from my 1922 Buick without destroying it? As you might quess, grabbing it and twisting until I turn purple did not work!!!
I don't know what the problem is. It has only been on there for 96 years.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Good point. It is inside my workshop. It gets sunlight every day, but only through the windows. If I remember correctly, glass filters out most of the UV light. On the other hand, the Buick has spent all but maybe 5 or 6 hours in the garage without direct expose to UV light. All of the tires are the same color. That is, the one's next to the garage door are not darker than the ones in the back.
Another thing to consider is that I have never washed the blue stuff off the whitewall in storage. Could it be acting as some sort of sealer?

JCBC,
Welcome to the forum, and thanks for advertising your running gear here.
We really appreciate it.
Thanks, and good luck with the sale and your project!

If it is air or chemicals in the air that is turning them yellow-brown, maybe we should seal them with something after we scrub them clean.
-
It has to have something to do with air getting to the tire. I bought 5 a couple of years ago for my '30 Buick. The ones on the car are very brown. The spare still in the plastic bag, is still brillant white.

You guys never saw a crop circle?

That was the third brother, Tom Kodak. He didn't talk until he was 7 years old! The called him "silent Tom."
