A '37 Buick Special trans auction on ebay ended yesterday without being sold for $120.00
If you contact the seller, I am sure he will relist it if he hasn't already.
Ask him for a $100 Buy It Now listing. I bet he will take it,
Dwight (we Dwights have to stick together, there are not that many of us around!)
P.S. For you other Buick guys, the seller has quite a few pcs. of NOS 40's and 50's Buick trim listed for sale

Is this another "Girls on Buick's" thread?

Congrats Casper. You are the man!

Interesting that it has no hood louvers. I wonder if that is why the hood is unlactched?

If it has been over the week that he promised, recontact Hemmings and inform them he continues to lie to you. If they are willing to address this, it might be the only leverage you have with him. Ask Hemmings at what point they will ban his advertisment.

'36 international pickup had a strap.

With a genertor (any voltage) you do not have to hook up the wire with the 3 ohm 11 watt resistor. That is only there to protect the control circuit in an alternator.

Well, it proves I can't tell the difference between Fords and Mercs

Beautiful classic Chevy Dan.
And thanks for the pictures. I have a restored Fram filter just like yours but I never knew where it went!!

Did you buy it David?

Dennis,
I know you are not asking for advice, but did you consider having someone make seat cushions for you? They could use modern materials on the inside and some well -worn old period leather. I would think an old, beat up leather sofa would have enough leather to do seat cusions and backs.
Someone like trimacar (member) would be able to do it or give advice.

I like the outdoor grill idea.
I am going to remember that one!

I would think it is sneeking down on the outside. but I don't know for sure.

Great body style.
Michigan is the buckel of the rust belt.
Have someone check out the body and frame. Rocker panels and bottom of doors might not be in the pictures for a reason!
It's a 2-door so it is a good candidate for a restomod or hot rod too.

Ben is correct. Check the engine number. It is good to find out now that you have a '39 engine rather than half way through the rebuild. Good advice.
Plus, if it not the correct engine you have some additional options.

Welcome James and congrats on the new trunkback.
It looks like a very solid car.
I can't help with the technical stuff, but I admire you courage to do the rebuild.
I do know that there are a lot more engine parts available to rebuild your straight eight than there were for my '30 straight six. There are even performance parts and restomod upgrades (not that anyone one would ever consider doing any of those)
.
Good luck with the rebuild and keep us armchair quarterbacks informed.
No guts. No glory!

This is an interesting question, so I did some research:
This is a 1928 Chrysler 60 series distributor:
My guess is that someone packed a non-high temperature red grease into that knurled knob distributor spindle grease fitting on the left side of the distributor.
When the engine heats up sufficently, the grease liquifies and runs out the twist cap.
I am sure someone here knows the proper high temperature grease to use. That is above my pay grade.
Hope this helps

Vila,
Thanks for the response.
Yes. I get a 0-30 ohm variation as I raise or lower the arm.

Hi All,
I am banging my head against the bench trying to test a new '49 chevy fuel gauge with a new '55 chevy sender. Both are supposed to be 0-30 ohms.
The fuel gauge has 2 terminals on the back. One is clearly marked "to sender"
The fuel gauge stays on "E" as I raise and lower the float.
I have it wired like this on the bench:
POS terminal from battery to fuel gauge "hot" terminal
Wire from fuel gauge "sender" terminal to terminal on sender
Wire from body of sender unit to NEG terminal on battery
Am I missing something? Does the body of the fuel gauge need to be attached to the NEG battery terminal (grounded)?
I would really appreciate some help.
Thanks,
Dwight -

Richard,
Do you have a tire (or rim with tire) that goes with a 23" wheel?
It could be a 30 x 3 1/2, 31 x 4, 32 x 4.5 or 33 x 5 straight sided (non clincher). Condition is not important. It only has to roll around the garage.
Thanks,
Dwight

OK. Sorry about that. Now that I compare the pics, I see they are quite different. I just went by what the seller claimed. Unfortunately, I have made this mistake before.
