  1. I went Sweepspear over Portholes.....

Maybe if portholes were not sold at Wallmart and slapped on anything with wheels then maybe they would still hold court for me.

That line on the side though sure screams Buick! all day long.

To be clear and to attempt to infer that you are looking for a LOGO image of some sort to incorporate into something then I would then prefer the EARLY BUICK (CURSIVE IN RECTANGLE BOX) or ROUND BUICK AUTHORIZED SERVICE IMAGE.

Sweep Spears belong on the side of a Buick for their full effect. ;)

  2. Yes I love this image...

But I have to say what really makes me think Buick and what brings out the best in the look of mine is the sweepspear/porthole combo. I used them as the main part of sig picture.

Bahhhh, I'm lying.....my Favorite Buick image is this :D

It has it all, great grille, portholes, sweepspear, bomb sight, wire wheels with the Red|White|Blue center caps.

    Sigh......

    Sorry for getting carried away....:o

  3. That sure is a beauty MrEarl....

If I'm not mistaken the Century was the fastest American production car in 54???

Yes I know the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL was a sure fired record breaker but certainly NOT American.

This one is the real deal but certainly NOT production!

  4. Gas right now is $1.21 per liter

    1 gallon [uS, liquid] = 3.785 liter

I'm assuming you Southerners use US Gallon?

The tank on my Truck is 95 liters.....

Oh and I agree on your economic statement, here is a news article from my local station today:

    Drop in Auto Sales

    Josh Pringle

    Wednesday, March 2, 2011

High gas prices are being blamed for the slowdown in auto sales.

Canadian sales fell 4.2 per cent in February, breaking a 14-month string of recovering performance in the auto industry.

Auto industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers says weak February sales numbers pushed year-to-date sales down by 0.7 per cent.

Ford Motor Co. of Canada reclaimed its status as the country's top-selling automaker even as its February sales slid 10 per cent compared with the record-breaking results it logged a year ago.

  5. Classic story Bob. It brings a tear to my eye.

    ;)

Thanks Mike...when I think back it sorta does the same to me.

I left out some of the main factors that contributed to the entry of my Buick experience but I do have a good account here for anybody who's interested:

How it all started... - Blogs - 1954 Buick Highway...

Its a Blog that has 6 entries that I should get back to and update....It begins with one of my fist posts, all the way to when the engine ceased.

  6. Age 38, total Buick ownership consists of 1 1954 76R for almost 2 years...total mileage would be about 20.

No other old cars, that's it

I grew up with a picture on the wall of my Dad standing in front of some big old car grinning like he stole it. He always called it his Roadmaster.....the best car he ever owned, I never even really knew that it was a Buick. I had always wanted to get some neat old car so when it came time I talked to Dad about his Roadmaster....I looked it up and got hooked. Thanks to MrEarls involvement it didn't take long for one to find its way to my home.....

....now if I can only get it to find its way back on the road. :D

  7. I think this observation of yours has everything to do with the fact that you are looking for a convertable....

50's converts are either restored....>40k because people want to recoup their money or they are rusted out roofless and floorless field dwellers waiting for a resto. A nice original convert is truly rare...so again up goes the price.

I really want a 54 Buick Roadmaster convert but they go for triple what my hard top would be in the same condition. A nice driver hardtop would be at least 10-15 so you can do the math. A #1 drop top is getting close to 6 figures FGS!

Converts are just plain o'l pricey.....we all want them right? I know I do.

  8. Spent the weekend getting to know the new '55 Super...replaced the generator, fixed the horn, dome light, license plate lights, trunk light. Secured some loose chrome and bumpers and tail pipe. Ordered some rubber replacement parts from Steele.

And of course drove her around a lot!

That would be my favorite part of a weekend!!!!! ;)

  9. The first start....!!!

Nice job guys, let me guess, there were cylinder wire and plug torque issues right? :D

....yes Willie, I got the gist but we all never like to admit that we, achem forgot the basics. ;)

    1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8???????? rofl.gif

I guess you couldn't break in the cam yet eh....well at least you know she starts, that must have been a fun day in the Garage with that crew in place.

    Thanks for the Vid!!!!!
