They are rusted together.Also even when everything is working fine the drum will not fit the new shoes.Reason is the place that lined the shoe just uses what is available.They seem to be a bit thicker than O.E.M.I use a belt sander to shave them down enough the drum will fit.Do not install the drums tightly over the shoes.When you use the brake and they heat up they will swell and lock up.There should be 0.10-0.15 thousands clearance between shoe lining and drum.
  4. I am also looking for a carb for a '29 whippet. Need a complete one as i do not have one at all.

The '29 has the fuel gauge mounted in the fuel tank.In 1930 it was the first year for the fuel gauge to be electric and mounted in the dash.Also the difference between a standard coupe and sport coupe in '29 & '30 is that a standard coupe had steel disc wheels and a trunk.The sport coupe had wire wheels and a rumble seat.Bumpers on the '29 were a bit different than the '30 model also.Hope this helps.

  10. Can someone enlightned me on what the back of the front seat was finished out with in the touring body? Photo would be nice also!
  11. That engine is notorious for ocassionally having a valve slow to return to it's seat. I feel that it is someway related to the way the stems are lubricated. It is imperative to use marvel mystery oil in the fuel as well as the crankcase. :cool:
