  1. This was wrapped up and boxed with other parts I obtained when I bought my car this weekend. Is it just an old bulb or does it have any automotive significance?

The car I bought was a 1928 Willys Whippet Cabriolet.

The bulb is about 6" long and has a large mounting base. The background of the photos is a letter size paper to give you an idea of it's size.

    Thanks for any info.

  2. Here's a photo of a book that helped me. My Buick is nothing like your top though.

And of a photo of my finished top (2012) The local shop gave me an estimate of 1500 $. The materials cost me 1/3 that, so I figured I could put on 3 tops and break even.  Is your top vinyl or canvas? There was a lot of info about installing a top on the threads here. I took photos of my install to write an article for the Bugle, but I haven't completed the article yet. One of the many things on my to do list.

    Good Luck

  3. Not sure if this will help you or not.

Photos show the book you might need and it's table of contents that list adjustments etc. I have an upholstery book that covers convertible tops as well as the service manual for 1965 Buicks that show the installation for mine. I'll look through it at see how far back it goes (after the thunderstorm passes through).

For sale on ebay now for $19.00 (not mine)

  4. I had a problem similar to this on a different car. Turned out it was the cruise control unit had a short and was signaling the lock up torque converter. Happened very random and created a shudder and at other times would shut the engine down in less than a second.

Maybe pull the fuse or turn off cruise control and see if the situation changes.

    Good luck

  5. After getting the base of my AFB filled and filed flat, I was told by many wise people on this site to sandwich the steel plate between 2 gaskets.

Haven't had any trouble the past 4 years. I've had the carb off twice to inspect, and all looks good.
