Battery Cables

If you still have the original cables, there should be an eight digit number stamped into the insulation of the cable itself, plus possibly the AC-Delco number. In looking on the ACDelco website, there are several negative cables listed. The easy thing about the ACDelco battery cable part numbers is that they contain both the "gauge" of the wire and the length. For example, "2SX25" would be a 2-gauge wire that's 25" long (between the end terminals). It looks like there might be a selldown/consolidation situation on the negative cable, which could result in a 2-gauge 25" cable replacing a 4-gauge 30" cable . . . or vice versa. The positive cable is "4SD35XH", or 4-gauge 35" long, with particular terminals and such.

In some cases, as vehicles age and parts inventories "adjust", some parts are consolidated with others, but they'll all fit the application (i.e., "will fit" vs. OEM-spec fit). If you cables still have the OEM GM part number stamped into them, then you might try some of the NOS parts sources, but a 1984 model year vehicle might be a little too new for them. You also might try the www.partsvoice.com website for such a NOS search.

Hope this might help . . .
