Crt touch screen dead spots

I recently bought a '89 Reatta.  Had never heard of the car before I bought one, but that crt definitely sold me on it.

 

The crt works perfectly except for one dead spot in the touch screen right over the cassette " play" button.  Does anyone know of a way to try to fix this without a complete rebuild of the crt?

You cannot press the play button unless there is a tape in the deck.

Thanks.  I've tried it with a tape adaptor in the deck with no response.  I'll see if I can scare up an actual cassette.

Make sure the tape deck is plugged in to the CDM (radio) box, located in the center console.

This is most likely your issue.

Ok, I have a mechanic giving me a new cam magnet, water pump and timing belt right now, when I get it back I'll check it out.  The deck does eject when I hit the eject command,. Just can't get it to play.
