Charlie F.
I have a starter on a home made tractor with a Dodge fast 4 motor and tranny . My question at this point is my starter is a 6304 and I seen another at 6400 then one with 6404 what do these numbers refer to? My starter the two plates are broken so i need some help? Is there another starter motor that I can adapt to this engine ? I have a Dodge doodle bug with a 4 in it and a buzz rig with one to but both are older and take the Starter /generator . Is there a way to date these engines?
Spinneyhill
These starters used the same armature: D o d g e Bros., 4, 124 1927 Dodge Bros., 4, 128 1928 D o d g e Bros., V i c t o r y 6 1928 D o d g e Bros., 6, DA 1929 Dodge, S t a n d a r d 6 1928 G r a h a m - P a i g e , 614 1928 Reo W o l v e r i n e , 6 1928 I think those numbers you quote might be the starter model numbers. North East starter SBH-6400 was used in the Dodge Brothers Senior 6 1929-30. The armature in that starter interchanges with the following: D o d g e Bros., Senior 6 1928 D o d g e Bros., Senior 6 1929 D o d g e Bros., Senior 6 1930 G r a h a m - P a i g e , 619 1928 G r a h a m - P a i g e , 629 1928 G r a h a m - P a i g e , 835 1928 W i l l y s - K n i g h t , 66B 1930 I don't have any interchange data for 1928 (or haven't found it yet). If you can find the engine numbers stamped into the block, they can be dated. People here will help. Charlie F.
My starter is a North East 6304 and is on the 4 cylinder engine . I seen another starter in a market but the number was 6400 and would like to know if they would interchange? Would I be better off putting the reproduction plates in my starter? I’m not just sure what yr the engine is . Where are the numbers stamped ? Thank You for the reply
