The crack is visible looking up through cylinder hole #3 with the piston out but the head is not off yet to really inspect it. My engine guy found it while trying to figure out why a fresh engine was smoking so bad with 1300 miles on it. Hence the pan came down and he pulled pistons, also found ring damage so the engine is coming apart again. Not a good day when that call came in... avantey Posted September 29, 2017 Author Share Posted September 29, 2017 Just an update on the head situation. A couple of weeks ago I took it to a man in Mass. He magnafluxed it, found two cracks in the compression areas of no. 3 & 5. He 'stitched"' both spots in a couple of hours and I brought it home that day. Very neat process and I was told it is a better repair than pinning it. If I could get pics off my phone to here I would show you what he did.
