'38 Trans Overhaul

Tore the transmission down this morning from my '38 P6 coupe. It was pretty grubby to start with but the parts that matter are OK. Everything came apart nice and easy, no strain, no PB Blaster. I'll have to reline the emergency brake and I might replace the drum. All gears looked good inside. Thrust washers showed normal wear. Needle bearing showed some pitting, front bearing was actually missing a couple of balls so it was definitely overhaul time. Ordered gaskets, bearings, seals, small parts kit, etc. from Andy Bernbaum, only $230 for everything (even a new shift knob!) including the shipping. So I was pretty happy with that. Everything cleaned, repainted and ready for reassembly. B)

Parts showed up from Andy Bernbaum and trans overhaul is complete right down to the new shift knob.

I've got to say, their prices can't be beat and Chris is just a super guy to deal with.
