zephyr part id

Hello, I received this part as a gift and would like to know the exact location of it in the car, and to which years it applies.

It is the rear license plate light. Located on center line below the license plate on deck lid. Looks very close to my 1938 Zephyr but the letters should show through the red. Might be another year.

As Beltfed said , it is the rear license plate light lens holder for the 1938 Lincoln Zephyrs. These are very rare in good condition as yours looks to be.This is the 1st thing that gets "creamed" in a rear end hit.The paint can be redone. A very good gift!

It has been repainted. The letters aren't painted, it's just a photo effect.

I restored the deck lid handle on my '37 Zephyr that had no paint left. I was very pleased with the results. Lots of time masking and then removing the overspray on the letters with a set of +250 glasses, magnifying glass and a set of round toothpicks.

Looks great, but you know, the funny thing about those trunk handles on the '36 and '37 Zephyrs is that it may be the *one* thing they got wrong styling-wise. I can't tell you how many times someone has come up to me and thought the trunk latch was open. IMHO, it should have pointed straight down
