Willy
I think I need to punch pin out that holds front belt pulley for the water pump, but the starter/generator? The book I have isn't clear. Any suggestions?
cahartley
Here you are....... Turn the engine over until the connecting link is accessible on the gear......1 O'clock is about right so the chain STAYS on the sprocket when the link is removed.Have some wires handy to hold the loose chain ends so you don't lose the chain in the front cover and to aid in re-assembly.Bend back the washer that locks the nut under the inspection cover to remove the nut then loosen the set screw that holds the starter eccentric which adjusts the chain tension.Do not over-tighten the wedge clamp between the starter body and cylinder block....just snug it.When putting it back together do NOT set the chain to be tight or it will howl like a Banshee.
