Dosmo
On another site, the 1938 Lincoln-Zephyr was being discussed as the first American car to feature a horizontal grille opening. This statement was challenged by someone who asked “what about the 1936 Cord”?Would anyone here care to weigh in on this topic? I found one source touting the Lincoln as first in this category. The link below contains that source.http://www.curbsideclassic.com/automotive-histories/automotive-history-how-the-1938-lincoln-zephyr-ushered-in-a-design-revolution-thanks-to-a-hot-radiator/
trimacar
1936 Cord, horizontal grill, first production car with front- opening hood, no running boards, retractable headlights, unibody construction, disappearing top, front wheel drive, electro pneumatic preselect transmission, step down interior with no middle hump....a LOT of features that pre-date cars that would follow.. Guest bkazmer
your overall point on the Cord is well-taken, but didn't the Traction Avant have a unit body in 34?
