jeff_a
I went to the Mercedes Classic Center in Irvine recently and saw a beautiful 1895 Benz Velo in their lobby. Has anyone here on the AACA Forums ever seen one that old? It was kind of Blue with red trim and had one of those coffee-grinder steering mechanisms. That ties with the oldest American car I ever saw, a Duryea.
CarlLaFong
Probably a reproduction. There are a few of them
jeff_a
Not a replica. Maybe you are thinking of the 3-wheeled 1885 Benz Motor Wagen. The little one-cylinder 1895 Benz has 4 wheels and 1200 were manufactured(world's first production car). One of the 1885 designs is there in the building, too. It's a replica and was for sale for 65,000 bucks a couple of years ago. Edited September 26, 2014 by jeff_a (see edit history)
