Thermostat Qs on a '63

I'm having my radiator re-cored so I'm going through the entire cooling system. My questions are:

1. What temperature thermostat is recommended for a 401 w/ no AC? 180-degree? Other?

2. Can I just use a good gasket cement on the thermostat housing or do I have to also use a paper gasket?

3. I'm currently running a 16 lb. radiator cap. I think 15 lb. was factory. Any thoughts welcome on that too.

180 is good.

Use a paper gasket. Spray both sides with copper coat gasket spray.

3. I'm currently running a 16 lb. radiator cap. I think 15 lb. was factory. Any thoughts welcome on that too.

16 is kind of high. Factory was more like 14.
