jeff_a
I've read few things about how the Pontiac 421 Super Duty was a great engine. Was it ever used in a GTO? Thanks.
Bleach
As far as I know it was only officially available in the full sized models. The 389 was the only displacement available in the 1st gen cars 64 to 66. Who's to say if some 421's made it by special order.
Guest
I've read few things about how the Pontiac 421 Super Duty was a great engine. Was it ever used in a GTO? Thanks. The Super Duty engine program for the 389 ended with 1962 production, the Super Duty 421 started in late 1961 and ended in January of 1963 by order of the executive staff of General Motors a year before GTO. The anti racing edict also shut down Chevrolet racing activities as well. GTO was a direct response to the anti racing edict which forced Pontiac to take it's performance off the track and put it on the street to help maintain it's performance image which greatly helped Pontiac stay in the number three sales slot over Plymouth.
