Guest Smitty168
Hello, a neighbor recently produced the attached picture and asked if anyone in our club could identify the car. He's not an 'old car guy', the car is pictured in front of his house and he found it shortly after he purchased the house. The car appears to us to be a STEAMER but what make and what year is the question. We assume that the pipes at the right running board are Whistles of some sort. Must have sounded like a railroad engine. Since our club members are all Model A ford types we are not able to identify the car. Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated. Thanks, Smitty168

DLynskey
The whistle is an exhaust whistle operated from a cut-out prior to the muffler. They were a popular accessory in those days and, at least in the south, were commonly called a "wildcat" whistle. Less decorative models were typically mounted out of sight underneath the car Similar whistles were used on fire engines where I grew up even into the 1950's.don
