D Yaros
53 = 1953 7 = Deluxe 88 Holiday Coupe (2-door) Model #3637 K = Kansas City, MO1662 = Sequential Number of Olds produced that year at that plant (Actually number is 622 as the numbers start at 1000)See more info here -Classic Car Specifications, Engine, Wheelbase, production numbers, VIN numbers for Antique Cars, Classic Cars, Vintage Cars and Muscle Cars
Oldsfan
I disagree. All Deluxe 88s are 537s. There is no way to tell the body style by the serial (VIN) number. The only way to tell the body style is by the number on the Fisher body data plate on the firewall.Paul
D Yaros
I'll defer to you on the body style, but the "7" has to represent something?
rocketraider
Generally just indicates series, Dave. Example my 64 Starfire VIN is 864MXXXXXX in which 8= V8, 6= Starfire, 4= 1964. 8 & 9 indicated Ninety Eights in 1964.
