In the same ownership for more than two decades, this handsome Colonial White 1956 Thunderbird is an awesome driver-grade 2-seater. It's an Arizona car restored in the 1990s, and I've never seen a cleaner car underneath. Zero rust anywhere, no repairs, no accidents, just virgin factory sheetmetal in outstanding condition. The paint has been touched up here and there, but the car makes a fantastic impression and looks great all around. Excellent chrome with no issues. Just to give you an idea of how nice this car is, that's the original porthole hardtop that has never been restored or repainted! In addition, there's a black canvas folding top underneath that's in very good condition.

The black and white interior shows signs of modest use, but no damage. Carpets and door panels are quite good, and everything works including the clock and tachometer. The original AM radio is in the dash, but it has been disconnected in favor of an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit installed under the glove box on the passenger's side feeding a pair of box speakers tucked behind the power seat. The mileage shown (95,044) is likely correct although the entire driveline was rebuilt about 8,000 miles ago so it's not really relevant anymore. The A/C under the dash blows cold and uses a modern compressor under the hood but retains a fairly period appearance inside the passenger compartment. The rust-free trunk includes a correct rubber mat and what appears to be original paint throughout.

The 312 cubic inch Thunderbird V8 starts quickly and runs beautifully, with a nice V8 burble from the twin tailpipes in the rear bumper. Detailed in Thunderbird Red with the accessory dress-up kit, it looks great with no signs of leakage or other trouble spots. It still runs the original "teapot" carburetor under the factory air cleaner, while the ignition has been upgraded to a Pertronix system that's completely invisible. Power steering (freshly rebuilt) and power brakes make it easy to drive, and the 3-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission feeds easy-driving 3.00 gears so it just loafs along on the highway. You'll note that there's zero rust on the floors or in the rockers, there's a fresh gas tank, rebuilt brakes, and a relatively recent set of wide whitewall radials on the original wheels.

A handsome, reliable, fully-sorted 2-seat 'Bird. The owner says it's his favorite to drive simply because it does everything well without complaint and it's easy to drive. We're asking $32,900 and we're always open to reasonable offers. Thanks for looking!

Hi Matt, this is a great looking, heavily optioned car that is a super good buy if it drives well. You can pay a lot more at Barrett-Jackson or from Andy Molitor (not his real name) but it is doubtful you will get a better driver grade car for the price. I'm sure it will find a new home in short order. Good luck with the sale.
