MCHinson
I don't know much about Essex cars but....I would guess that the car in the photo is about a 1927 or so Essex, but it has been retrofitted with some later headlights.
Guest alpalmer
That is about the right time. However, I was interested in your observation about retrofitted headlights. I think that he bought the car new and was not one to do any kind of modifications. That photo was taken near the time that the car was purchased and was in the time span between 1928 and 1932. Thanks for your response.
Guest 33t8
The car in the photo is a 1927 Essex coupe, the headlights are correct also and you can see the cowl lights on the w/shield post that are of the same design. I own 2 27 Essex a sedan & Boattail speedabout.Tom

MCHinson
Well, like I said, I don't know much about Essex cars...Comparing to some photos that I had seen, I thought that the lights were shaped a little different but obviously I was wrong about that. Thanks for the correction from someone who actually knows about Essex. I am just happy that I was good on the year of the car.... I guess I am learning....
john2dameron
MCHinson, still learning. That's good. My father-in-law used to tell me when a man stops working he dies. I figure when a man stops learning he is dead.
keiser31
1926 and 1927 seem to be the year of bullet styled headlamps...Chevy in '27 and some Chryslers in 1926.
