Kro-Pro, LLC has a long history since its conception date in 1990. The founder, Bryan Proctor, started his company in 1990 due to health problems that made it difficult to work a normal job. He started with one industrial polishing jack in his red shed in his backyard. His target market started in refinishing and plating of classic bikes and cars. He used Quality Plating, his previous employer, as his plating source when he started. Bryan named his business Proctor’s Custom Metal Finishing and soon rented his first building in Fruitport, MI in 1992. In 1995 He bought his first building. It was during this time that he partnered with his brother, which soon caused them to rename the business Custom Metal Finishing. In 2000 they relocated to a new location that they bought so that their plating and polishing could be under one roof. In 2005 the brothers split and went their separate ways. Bryan ended up closing his doors. In 2006, when he was not able to find a job due to his health, Bryan decided to give it a go one more time with a new business, Proctor’s Metal Finishing. Bryan and his son-in-law, Jake Krol, set up a new rental spot in 2007. Jake taught himself everything he needed to know in the plating side of the business.
By 2013 The company was changed to Proctor’s Custom Chrome Plating LLC. By 2014 They purchased the current building at 1004 East Broadway Ave. Norton Shores, MI 49444. In 2015 the company went through some rough times and nearly closed. It was during this time that Bryan’s daughter and Jake’s wife, Nicole, came on board to help. It was during this year that Bryan decided he was tired of being the owner and wanted to start slowing down. At the end of 2016 Bryan closed his doors as owner for the last time, but sold his assets to Jake and Nicole. On January first of 2017 they opened Kro-Pro, LLC. Through careful consideration Jake came up with the name by combining his and Nicole’s last name with the founder’s. Krol and Proctor became Kro-Pro. It was their deepest goal to keep the founders name and legacy attached to their business endeavor and are pleased to have him stay on as a key individual in the company as it moves forward.
