Dandy Dave
Most older cars did have a vented fuel cap. The tanks on these older vehicles must be vented somewhere or else the gas could cause a pressurization or, as the fuel is used, a vacume in the tank. The easiest way to achive this was by venting the cap which is at the highest point of the tank. As an educated guess I would say yes. It would be. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Dave!
