1950 Olds 88 Rear Shocks Conversion

When Oldsmobile went to tube shocks in 1951, they also went to leaf springs. I'm thinking it may be in your best interest to change everthing over to the later style, leaf springs, if you want to go tube shocks. That would be expensive, and it's no longer original so for the same money, get your lever action shocks rebuilt. Depends on what you have in mind for the car....

I know it's been done as a while back there was a '50 in Arizona for sale with a lot of pictures and that car had tube shocks in the rear with the coil springs. They were very long shocks. Unfortunately I can't find the pictures on the web anymore and the car was sold. For now, I'm still using the lever shocks and in fact just finished loosening them from the backing plate so I could install the new rear brake shoe hold down pin. Forgot that I had to do the same thing to get the old pin out. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
