A/C compressor

Can anyone tell me why my A/C compressor continues to click on and off, even if the HVAC system is turned off?

I have noticed this even if the temperature outside does not require the A/C to be working.

Any help would be appreciated

The Reatta has automatic climate control.

If you have the control set in AUTO, the system will allow the a/c to run and it blends cold and hot air to give the inside of your car the tempature you select.

The compressor will not run when the controls are set on HEAT or ECON, if it does then we need to find the problem.

It does run during heat and economy. It even runs when the system is off all together.

Go to the climate section of the on line service manual and run some tests.

It could be as simple as the relay (but that would probably be stuck on all the time) or the control box.
