Matt Harwood
I'm doing a complete rebuild on my '41 Century and plan to upgrade to insert bearings to replace the babbit. Later straight eights used insert bearings as standard equipment, making the rebuild easier (i.e. cheaper <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ). If anyone is parting out a 49-52 Roadmaster, or has a set, I'd like to buy them.I'm also looking for a front cover from the same engine that has the rubber crank seal instead of my '41's rope seal. Thanks in advance! pirate
A good machine shop like Egge will take your rods and machine them to accept inserts for you. They wil also do a poured bearing for about the same price. I opted for the poured bearing when I rebuilt my 320 engine. $65 each was the price a couple years ago if I remember right.
