Tom_Mallon
I'm looking for any info on this car. I just purchased it for $900.00 and it appears to be in great shape for a 26 year old car, 97,000 miles and a near perfect interior. It does need a few hard to find items though such as the emblem caps for both rear hubcaps, a side pillar emblem for the right roof pillar, and any info on where I can either buy a N.O.S. rear bumper or get this one rechromed, as well as both the front hood ornament and a complete trunk lock assembly. I have looked at all of the resources listed on the ROA links page and can't find anything. Anyone else have any ideas? I'm new to the antique car gig but am ready to jump in with both feet. Thanks, Tom
mrtac3
Hey Tom. I have an '82 Convertible. Try EBay. Search Buick Riviera. I think I've probably seen everything that you are looking for. There's a guy in W. VA. that I have gotten several parts from. I'll c/p and forward your post. T.#4393
Guest BJM
Tom, Great car to jump in with. I have three of these generation Rivieras in a local Pick-A-Part junkyard but I won't have an opportunity to get to them until at least Jan 3. I can certainly check on bumper condition - I know they don't have the hood ornaments. The trim they probably do have. Be sure to assess the condition of the transmission fluid as I believe this is the week link in thse beautiful cars. If it smells burnt or looks dark, flush it. Don't just drain and fill - go to any reputable shop or dealer and have what is now called a "transmission flush" which will completely remove all the old fluid throughout the system. tim63riv
Tom,You will see a lot of the parts you need on ebay. Have you joined the ROA yet? A membership applicatiojn is available on the ROA website. Lots of vendors and individual Riviera enthusiasts have ads in the "Riview", a bi-monthly publication of the ROA. You may also want to hook up with the ROA regional coordinator in your area, they will know what members in your location may have some parts or needed expertise for your new Riviera!Welcome Aboard!Tim McCluskeyROA 9686
