I have heard of ppl putting the 523/obx setup in these cars to replace their busted 284s or just so they wouldnt have to replace them. I have a stock 568 large spline from a R/T sitting here. I have axles also and the intermediate shaft because of the equal length setup. could I remove the 284 and its stuff and bolt up the 568 with its axles and shaft and call it a day considering I will need to change the clutch and plate i think also, i'm not sure what would need changing. I also have larger knuckles from an R/T that support the 11in brakes that i could swap in with the calipers and rotors. I am looking at options, considering the gear ratio i think of the 284 being low compared to the r/t trans which is a 3.85. This would wake the car right up and the brake upgrade would slow it down nicely. anybody?

The 523/568 is mostly a bolt in, in addition to the axles/I shaft you mentioned you will need:

Shifter from 523/568 car with shift cables, non-Daytona prefered (you will have to use one of the 284 cables with an end from the 568 for the crossover)

The tin between the eng/trans from any 5spd 2.2 2.5 The 284 tin will not fit

Drivers side trans mount/bracket for 523/568

Bobble strut wont line up after the swap, you can deal with that by welding on an new one or?

Your abs light will be non-functional and light on unless by some miracle that RT stuff you have had abs. Still the 16V TC tonewheel is much smaller diameter and just swapping in some abs axles from another car will hit the sensor with the stock TC hubs. Ideal swap is turbo/auto TC axles with the 568, no mods neccessary.

You will need a VERY stout clutch, the 16V TC clutch/pp is much larger than standard TII and the PP is 1900lbs. TC's are a couple hundred lbs heavier than a Daytona and that's even more stress on a clutch. My Clutchnet STG III is slipping after only 2K miles <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> First it was fifth gear at 14PSI now 4th wont hold at 16 psi. This was after a very carefull 500 mile break in at 9psi. I guess stg IV or better is needed?

Might be a couple things I forgot...

sounds like a bit of work like anything else. if it comes to this at least i know it can be done. ABS working I can care less about, my Daytona has it removed because it failed after i swapped my motor, must have missed a ground someplace. I enjoy regular braking much better than that flutter bullspit. I guess i'll see whats going on in the spring maybe
