tbirdman
Trying to figure out the correct paint for the black brackets under the dash and the ride adjustment rod. Looks like a gloss black. Can anyone confirm? I also was going to black oxide the bolts. Also the ride control handle did not look it was painted up to the knob. Should any part of that rod be be plated?Thansk for the help. I'm trying to do this as close to original as possible.
Guest imported_Speedster
Sorry, the Only 'Ride-control' we have, is how many Pillows we have under our butt.
Owen_Dyneto
Bracket, outer (rear) sleeve and other attaching hardware is painted gloss black, the shaft itself is unplated and unpainted. The knob should be chrome though I've heard some of the early ones were nickel plated.
Guest Randy Berger
Tbirdman,May I suggest that you post your email address in your profile. That way some people could email you directly with answers for some of your questions. Just a thought, but someone mentioned he would rather email than post here - strictly a personal opinion. They look like they should be black gloss also. Are all bolts painted or should they be black oxide?
Owen_Dyneto
Based on an unrestored and unmolested 34 Eight sedan, glove box brackets are painted gloss black and appear to have been painted after the fasteners were in place. I've owned this car for decades and never seen evidence of black-oxide finished fasteners. What body style and chassis is your 32?
tbirdman
Thanks, that's great infomation. It's nice to have a unmolested models to go by. I've been talking with some owners of 32 models like mine who will be sending me some pictures of the door panels and dash to help me out. I have a 32 903 coupe roadster. 142" WB.
