rifleman56 - You bought a very solid car. I bought one new and couldn't be happier. I put a K&N air filter on and increased my MPG and it has more power as expected. My last trip to Jacksonville I got a hair over 30 on the hwy. Happy motoring ........

A great car! If it has the Trip Computer functions in the Driver Information Center, you can punch up "Instant Fuel Economy" on the display and impress everybody with how great the fuel economy is (plus learn how to use the "coast" orientation in slowing down for stop signs) and learn how much acceleration at particular rates really costs in fuel economy versus how soon you get there (hint .. "slow and easy" isn't the most economical, by my own observation in those cars, yet "moderation" works well) and can then back-off to "cruise conditions" (i.e., most economical). Using the cruise control helps fuel economy on trips too.

One of the absolute best combinations of everyday power and performance PLUS size, luxury, and FUEL ECONOMY that GM has ever produced! Very durable and reliable and economical to operate.

Hope you enjoy your "new" ride. About a month ago I bought a 2002 LeSabre Ltd. Mine has more miles at 86K, but at least it's loaded with options. You'd never know by riding in this car that it has so many miles, the ride is quite and solid. The oil life monitor just prompted me to change the oil, so, in goes what's probably it's first "taste" of Mobil 1. I'll never understand why some people think that the drain plug must be holding the entire car together! Talk about over torque!

Thanks for the info. Everything I've read on the internet about the car says the LeSabre is a well made car. I'll get a K&N air filter too. I bought this car to go to work and back so I'll keep the miles off my truck plus save some money on gas. But I'm liking the car more than the truck now.

My wife bought (new) one of the last '05 LeSabres. I like it for what it is, and nothing more: a roomy car with more than enough power, that has a soft highway ride, and gets better-than average mileage. We've taken it on several long trips (6 hrs plus).

Things I hate:

- Even with the tilt wheel full up, the top of the dash obscures the top of the speedo and I have to duck down to see it. I'm 5'10".

- I can't get comfortable in the driver's seat. I abhor the fact that the seat bottom raises up-and-down independently from the backrest. It always pulls my shirt out.

- The heater fan is too noisy, even on the lowest setting.

- The wipers are too small.

- The plastic door handles are flimsy, warped, and don't sit flush with the door skin. I'm wating for one to break off.

- There is a lot of wind noise at the top trailing edge of both front doors.

- What's that weird whirring noise from the trunk fifteen seconds after you start the car?

Don't hear me say that I think it's a crappy car, and that I'm slamming Buicks. These are all engineering gaffs; but the sort of things I notice if I am preparing to buy a car. I can only hope they've gotten these sort of things straightened around with the LaCrosse, etc. I haven't seen any of those sales figures.

I too have one of the last 2005 LeSabres, a Limited/Celebration Edition, which I bought in July 05. I think it is a great car, my third Buick, preceded by a 95 Park Ave and a 85 Park Ave. In response to your list, I have not experienced the same issues, for the most part. Yes, I agree that the heater fan is a little noisier that in my previous 2 Buicks, but not bothersome. I am 6ft tall and have no problem seeing the speedo, but with the heads-up-display(great), I seldomly look at the speedo in the dash. I find the 10-way seats very comfortable. No problem the wipers size, but the rain-sense automatic wipers take some getting used to. No problems with door handles, and NO wind noise. The whirring noise from the trunk area is the automatic load leveling system. It is the best built car I ever purchased. The only problem I have had in the last 1-1/2 years is the "service stability system" light which came on in the dash. It was an sensor problem that my local Buick dealer repaired promptly. I have since sent 3 new customers to this dealer, including my father and his girlfriend who both purchased 2006 Lucernes, and a co-worker who just bought a 2007 Rendezvous. Too bad all new car dealers don't treat their customers so well. They are one of the last stand alone Buick dealers left. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> (From what I understand, they sell more Buicks than any other Buick dealer in northern and central New Jersey)

My daily driver is a 2003 LaSabre Custom - company car.

Our company has about 250 of them on the road. We used to have Grand Marquis, but switched over to LaSabres about 4 years ago. Company policy used to be 125k miles to get a new issue, but with the success of the LeSabres, it has been raised to 150k. Mine has 135k now and has been great; highway mileage always runs between 26.5 and 30 mpg. Only problems have been a blown tranny at 110k, and a window regulator about 3k ago.

With the LeSabre gone, I don't know what they are going to replace them with...hopefully a Lucerne - maybe I can hold out for an Enclave? :-)
