Guest imported_PackardV8
How big is it???? Possibly fit around a wheel and tire or on the spare???
Dave@Moon
It vaguely resembles one of a set of "helper chains" for snow travel, though obviously with a formed stirrup instead of chains for traction. Given the size and the company name that might be what they are. How the wooden board figures in is beyond me, however. Could it be a wheel chock/parking brake device, where the board gets strapped to the wheel at an angle?
dlh61olds
Sorry I mislead you. The board was placed there to hold the sides apart for the picture. The board is not in the second picture. It is not part of the device. It is too small to fit a tire.Dave
Guest Stllrng.
It looks like it could possibly be a battery lifter/ carry strap. They were popular at one time. That is just a guess, however and nothing more.
drwatson
Could that be a device for lifting and handling the long rectanguler style battery GM used during the 50's? I checked antiquecarbattery.com, All GM's but Chev used a 19"x4.25"x9" battery in the mid 50's. Do the measurements fit with the "contraption" ? Guest
It's almost an exact match (except for dimensions) of several battery carriers that I have.
