b6vt
I have been redoing the wire in various places. I removed the door panel and have noticed that the cylinder is leaking from the top seal where it seals against the ram. This particular cylinger has threaded ends on the top and bottom. Is it possibleto reseal this cylinder or will I have to get a new one? Has anyone had asimilar experience and can you give me any info? Thanks. Guest imported_V12Bill
The screw on cylinder that you have sounds like a reproduction cylinder that was made up by Bernie Holland a few years back. There should be no leakage from the top as only a small amount of fluid will by pass fluid past the seal into the upper chamber. Since it is a screw on top why not just unscrew the top and mop up any excess fluid that may have leaked past?
Rolf
For what it is worth Glenn, I have a box full of used original window lift cylinders, condition unknown, $10 each, if the one I send you is no good, send it back, and I will shoot you another one, wish I could test them for you, but I have no facility's, rolf@got.net

Rolf
No bother at all Moody, I checked with some people in the know, 'cause I sure am not, and they say all tee window cylinders are the same, but the old originals are fraught with problems, so it is a trip to the casino, I am also told that brand new ones are available for $135, so you don't have to scrap the car, or tape the window shut, and here these things are only 60 years old, and already troublesome, imagine!!
