Guest Fr Mike
Does anyone have ideas about appropriate materials for lining the inside of the (metal)trunk of a 1931 Buick? In that year, as most know, the trunk was seperate from the body and mounted on a luggage rack over the back bumper. The attached photo is, obviously, before restoration, now under way. This trunk was never wood-lined, and is made of heavy enough gauge sheetmetal to be sturdy and without need for internal reinforcement. It wasmade by Potter Mfg. Co. of Jackson, Mich.
Fred Rawling
The trunk on my 1935 had a liner. It was made of what looked like cardboard or tar paper about 3/16 inch thick. It had a texture on the inside surface.
Guest imported_Thriller
That looks a lot like the trunk that came with my '29. The Potter sticker is mostly intact. That being said, mine has nothing inside. The bottom is wood.
Guest Fr Mike
Same Potter Mfg. Co. sticker. The back of mine is curved to conform to the lines of a sedan's rear body. The bottom is sheet steel. I want to add an appropriate lining, as no points are deducted for this, and it makes for a nicer, cleaner trunk.
