Guest F14CRAZY
I got thinking...Oldsmobile, circa 1985-86, had a 4.6L V6 FWD diesel for a Ninety Eight. If someone wished, you suppose it couldbe swapped into a Reatta? Thing is that I don't know the transaxle bolt pattern...the diesel may have the GM RWD pattern. Would be interesting.Only thing is, I've read that the Oldsmobile diesel was awful. Like a gasoline engine with diesel hardware. But hey, look closely, and see the "DIESEL FUEL ONLY" in your '88-89 instrument panel
shoreice
I know, the 350 diesels really sucked. The 350 diesel blocks do make great Hi-Po gas engines. Diesels need turbos to be any good at all. They will take LOTS of boost. And besides, transdapt makes adapter plates for just about anything. How about building an engine to run on just E85? c
Guest F14CRAZY
I read at olds-diesel.com, I think it is, that the RWD V6 diesel, as discussed here, has the "chevy 2.8L" trannybolt pattern, meaning, it will bolt to our 4T60 Problem? 85 hp, 165 ft/lbs. A stock LN3 could blow it out as half throttle. Heck, I could win in a race against it, towing another Reatta
shoreice
How much boost will a 3800 and reatta ecm stand?
2seater
About 4-5 psi of boost with a little more injector to go with it.
shoreice
Thanks, my old 6.2 GMC diesel ran real well with 12-14psi from the turbo and Brownie 3speed gear splitter for 12speeds total.Guess I was a gear jammin' fool.
jaredthegeek
Nevermind the Reatta ECM, how much boost will the block and crank take? Rods and pistons are more easily upgradeable to swing higher boost levels. I'd love to see something on the order of a Megasquirt box running a true multiport EFI turbo setup, and an interface back into the Reatta BCM/display would truly be icing on the cake! Guest F14CRAZY
I know an LN3 crank will take 500 hp. If I'm right, my M62 is developing like 10 psi, and hey, it hasn't blown yet
