NTArrington
I need to renew the head gaskets on a 41 Cadillac V-8. I have torn down several 41-18 Cadillac motors in the past and seen copper gaskets on some and steel on others. One engine which was rebuilt by GM long ago had steel gaskets. Suppliers have both available. Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Guest stude8
Other manufacturers used Steel gaskets under Aluminum cylinder heads and Copper gaskets under Cast Iron cylinder heads. Reason is Aluminum and Copper would have a galvanic reaction that would eat away metal until a leakage occurred. Stude8
