1953 olds wire wheel hubcaps parts needed

hi, i have six 1953 olds wire wheel hubcaps, and i need five or six retainers that hold the hubcaps tight against the wheel, the guy i bought these from, tells me that i need the same retainers as what was used in 1957 oldsmobiles with fiesta spinner hubcaps, is he right ?, i thought what i needed was what had a bolt pattern like the wheel and was shaped like a metal bowl. please help, thanks, charles coker. cell # 417-234-2849

He is wrong. You need a plate that is held on by the lugnuts, like you are talking about. But, if you've got wheels with the three metal fingers that hold the dog dish hubcaps one, they will also hold the wires. That's what I did on my '52. But maybe they did away with those fingers for '53.
