Rocket_Hot_Rod Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I am building a Rocket Powered 1932 Ford and have a question about my motor. I was told I have a 1956 Olds 324 ci motor. Sitting on top is an original tri-power set up with Rochester carbs. My question is how do I know exactly what year my motor is so I can order the correct parts for it? Is there some type of identification on it? I have read that the tri-power was available on 1957 motors. Do I have a 1956 or 57............or some other year? Thank you in advance.
Oldsfan Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Factory tri-power was only available mid-way through '57 and '58, and they were 371 motors. I've been told you can't put a J2 on the newer 394s, but I don't know if you can put it on the older 324s and 303s. I'm guessing not. Maybe you've got a 324 with an aftermarket tri-power setup. There should be numbers on that motor somewhere, but without a book in front of me I can't tell you where to look.
