69 Cutlass fuel gauge

My fuel gauge is pegged all the way to the right way past full evidently not working right. Any ideas what could be wrong, bad gauge, bad sending unit, bad wire, etc?

I would look for a grounded wire somewhere between the tank sender and the gauge.

A grounded sending unit wire will cause a "constant empty".

Look at the ground wire on the sending unit itself and the ground. If the conection isn't good, it will show waaaaaaaaay past full.
