In cleaning out my fathers estate I have found several sets of slides from the LZOC and LCOC meets in the southeast US from the 1960's-1980's. If someone would like them for free I will be more than happy to let you have them. Just contact me at mauricebeth@bellsouth.net.

Thanks,

Maurice

How many Zephyrs were at GOF VII in 1974? Were there any Continentals in attendance?

We drove our 1947 Continental from Los Angeles to Vermont to the Eastern National LCOC meet in 1970 and I don't remember ANY Zephyrs there. We also drove the Continental to the Western LCOC meet at Yosemite the same year and don't remember any Zephyrs there either. I don't know the percentage of Zephyr production to Conmtinentals, but the Continental survival rate is incredible compared to the Zephyr survivals, so a LOT of Zephyrs were sacrificed to keep Continentals running. (I must admit that I cut a pretty nice ($50) 1948 Zephyr sedan in 1968 for parts).

At the LZOC Western National meet at Carlsbad CA, last year there were only FOUR Zephyrs entered, but there were a LOT of Continentals. In fact, I was told that a lot of early Continental owners are abandoning the LCOC and are joining the LZOC because that's where all the V-12 cars are!

i was too young to be really on the ball...but that was the same city mr. emery got his low mileage 39 zeph ragtop..i guess we are lucky..lots of zephyrs in the buckeye state...although my car came from sc...I remember glen koets had 42 lz...and clay nichols has mrs stokles 40 sedann"zephyr hermes" then there was guy shaffer and 40 3 window..with the rare fresh air/hot water heater set up..jack lowrey with a sweet 37 4 door..bob a, still was proud of his 39 flagship..dod dickey had that puke green 42..and was working on his maroon 42 3 window..he finished that for dearborn couple years later..but those are just quick memory..i was only 13.

I have to say the 37 coupe, in red was most common..popular in my gof memory..gettysburg of hagerstown gofs...late seventies/// i always marveled at the customs..wow power windows and seats..jump seats..auto chokes..division window...gold trim..shiney heads..then ander or imboden came in with the special closed quarter window jobs..wow..but is it a zephyr limo or connie??

hoh bout j murphy and his brunn!! just please dont hot rod any more..even like arrington and his 40...go buy a chevy if u want to chop cars fellows...we dont care about those....

Well, I finally finished scanning all of Maurice's father's slides. It took a while because many of the slides had dust specks or scratches on them which I removed using Adobe Photoshop.

Here are the links to all the photo albums.

Phil, this is Maurice Mims. I just wanted to say thanks for taking the slides from my fathers collection and posting them. I got your email but have not had a chance to respond due to a new job. The job you did on the slides is fantastic as for posting. I have referred your listings to several old car buffs in the southeast US and also family members. I am still reviewing them but the pictures (if they are here ) of the young guy with the head of hair standing next to A Models is myself.

The big picture I have wondered in reviewing the slides is where are all of these cars now, especially the Lincolns. As mentioned to your previously, the 41 Lincoln Zephyr 5 window coupe that my dad had was the only one we new of in Georgia except for a white (40 to 41) owned by a dentist Dr. Pratt in Macon. Dr. Pratt's car is is in the pictures. He eventually sold the car, wonder where it is now.

Anyway, thanks again for your work.

Maurice Mims
