Dave@Moon Posted February 17, 2006 Share Posted February 17, 2006 Those are definitely a 1949 Champion's bumper and grille. Everything else in the photo could either be 1948 or 1949.The parking lights Rick speaks of were optional in 1949 for Champions, but most cars had them. I think this car appears not to have had them, because the parking light trim extended about half-way back the front fenders and there doesn't appear to be any holes or scars beyond the headlight rim area (especially in the right fender). That's probably why those lights were added. The duct tape I suspect was the work of the same "bodyman" who patched the "Studebaker rust" on the trailing edge of the front fender.
