I would like to drive this car , and don't want to be reving the heck out of it running down the highway.A 5 speed or overdrive auto would be nice.Would like to hear from anyone who has done this. Aside from changing the rear end and putting in a drive shaft, how successful is attaching a newer trans to the straight 8?What trans can be used?Adaptors? He writes good articles and encloses lots of pictures. Search for Buick when you get there.Your problem may not be with the trans as much as it is with the way your rear end is geared. You may be running 4.45 to 1 rear end gearing. If you could bring that down, by switching to a different gear set, you could accomplish the same thing much easier.
