BryceBurden
I have recently purchased a 1951 Ford 1/2 ton for my boss. I am going to restore it for him. The truck has a 226 and 3 on the tree.A friend of mine told me that the 226 was a prewar motor and a 51 should have a 223 in it.Is he correct, or do I have the original motor for this truck I am a Chevrolet guy and know nothing aboutFord trucks, so any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Bryce [color:\\"red\\"]
Rick Hoover
What you have is correct. The '51 was the last year for the 226 flat head engine. In 1952 they went to a OHV 215 six and then the 223 six in 1954. Rick
Guest De Soto Frank
You boss must be quite a guy for you to treat him to an antique truck plus a resto... The Ford 226 is a good solid engine, very much under-appreciated.
