Guest Wayne in Malvern PA
I saw a very attractive early 2-seat T-bird on the road yesterday - red with a white hard top. Got me to wondering if anybody had tried putting a different color top on a TC? White or Black top on a red TC for instance? Might look kinda neat. Guest Jeffn
We could have a top swap to try the different tones.
Tutty77
Yes I have a royal cab that I changed the top color to tan that chnges color depending how the sun hits. It goes from a tan close to the interier to a soft silver. It really looks great, It also brings out the burgandy, not soo much of it. This is on a 89, and I also have a 89 red, But feel that I should leave it alone. I had this car at the nationals in Laughlin in 2003.
MattWilson
I had a friend of the family paint my hard top black (originally "exotic" red) shortly after I bought my TC. (The top was noticeably faded compared to the rest of the car and two shades of red looked hideous)I've never had any regrets.
Tutty77
That was the main reason that I painted my royal cab, the top had turned milkey on top and I was afraid that if I painted it the same color that it might not match. The rest of the car paint was real good.
Guest gontpless
Put the black top on my yellow TC looks ok,and had the yellow top on the black TC looked like s#*& [color:"blue"] [color:"blue"]
Guest Wayne in Malvern PA
I could see how a yellow top on a black body might look a bit strange. I'm sure there's some kind of design principle about what colors you can mix. The color guys from the 50's, when everything was 2 or 3 tone, must have had that down pretty well.Saw a yellow TC on the DC Beltway last Thursday.
