69mustang
I have a motor and trying to find out what it is?It's a straight six with over head valves. The cylinders are one piece steel andthe block is all one piece aluminum. The valves have push rods on the right hand side that go along side the motor to a roller end that rides on the cam on the bottom. The push rods are adjustable. Also on the right hand side there is a starter,Delco Ramy, with a shaft goingout to the distrubator then to a water pump then to the drive off the crank. There is also a shaft for a hand crank. It has a updraft carburator and a metal oil pan with a lever you can pull to dump the oil.It measures 31" high and 40" long with the block and it also has the orignal transmission hooked up to it.It does turn over and I think it would runIt has a valve cover with turnouts on top to oil the valves and a cover over the push rods.I have pictures if anybody wants to see. Guest sixpack2639
Might be easier to identify if we could see the pics you have. Carl

Guest sixpack2639
My best guess at this point is late teens early twenties Buick but I have been known to be wrong...just ask my wife. LOL More pics would help. Also, what is printed on that plate on the side cover? I see what looks like some numbers but hard to make out. Looks like it starts with a 3, maybe? Guest stude8
I can't venture a guess at the make but it reminds me of a story told by Frank Schmale a Du Page County IL pioneer who had a 1920's Oakland with the exposed push rods and how going to church on a Sunday morning when a rod would fall out of its appointed linkage and he would have to get under the hood in his sunday suit and put the errant pushrod back in place without getting oil on his white shirt cuffs. Not an easy job. Stude8
Terry29-26
I don't think it is Buick. Buick cast their logo on most if not all castings. I have Buick engines and parts going back to 1913 and all have the Buick logo cast some where on them. Starter/Generator looks to be later than the teens.Nash had an early overhead valve eng. but I do not have any photos that show an eng. where the valves were not in a straight line. D Binger
That is an early 20's Buick engine. The attachment is of the engine in my 22 Buick. The valves are not in a straight line and there is no Buick logo cast in the parts. I took this three years ago when I was restoring my BuickDan
D Binger
Here is another picture of my 22 Engine. The side cover and the valve cover are on. The plate on the side cover has what clearence to set the valves.Hope this helps identify the engine you have Mustang.Dan
69mustang
Thanks Dan. You are right. Your motor looks exactly like mine except yours look like brand new. It looks great! If you know of anybody that needs a motor let me know. Thanks for the info, Kim kcberheim@frontiernet.net
Terry29-26
Dan is correct. I should have gone to the barn before I posted earlier. After reading his post I did look at some of the engines I have. Attached is photo of one that was used to power a sawmill for many years.Terry29-
