tomucen
I have problems with my idle speed. Engine is a 301 Pontiac V8 with 4bbl carb. Year is 1979. Is there a device to control the idle speed and keep it steady? I have to keep it pretty high because when I shift in gear, it would stall otherwise. My van with all the electronics has for example an idle air control valve. Does my Buick have something similar? Thanks for any input.
56Roadmaster
Hi,<BR> No there is no steady control device except a throttle kicker if you have A/C to raise engine idle with compressor on. Start looking for vacuum leaks, improper idle mixture setting and improper engine timing.
