Engine paint color

Hello, new here and I thought I might ask this question as it might relate to other Dodge manufactured engines of the period. Also it seems to be a question that eludes alot of the military Dodge truck restorers.

I have a 1945 WC52 and the "Straight 6" engines appear to have been painted at the factory in a what has been described as "Smoke White" or "Dove Grey".

My questions are;

Does anyone know what this color was called and is there a paint code?

Was it used in civilian applications as well?

Is there a good current paint match for this paint or paint chips available to see what this color actually looked like?

i have recently have had to get paint matched and found out that there is a hand held computer type of paint code creator that is used by many up to date paint suppliers..that a painted iten to them and they can scan it with their equipment ans get you the exact paint code it worked great on my 1923 maxwell...good luck
