I was wondering if anyone could tell me if Oldsmobile or Buick made a car in 1964 called a "hippodrone" (Spelling?)??? A friend called today and said there is one for sale by his house with 79K miles, 4-door, 3-spd auto, great shape... I'm not interested in buying it, I just had never heard of such a car and was stumped... Am I all wet? or does such a model exist?
Thanks,
Mark
BCA 372362

You may be correct about the "Nashville" connection, the car is about 120 miles away from there. I am supposed to have pics tomorrow that I can post...

For fun:
http://www.hippodromecars.com/HippodromeOldsNissan/
Hippodrome seems to be really downplaying the Olds line... like there's virtually no mention of Olds on the site.
By way of coincidence, it's not unusual to see cars here in San Diego with Hippordrome dealer markings. They make there way here with the Navy folks from Memphis.
JMC

HIPPODROME,
HIPPO MEANS "HORSES" IN THE ORIGINAL LATIAN
AND DROME OR DROMO MEANS "ARENA"
HORSE ARENA
SO, I DON'T THINK IT'S GOT ANYTHING TO DO WITH A STYLE OF CAR.

yep, i'm setting here looking out across the Snatchville skyline right now at Hippodrome Olds. REcently they took down the Olds sign and replaced it with Nissan. I think at one time maybe before my time it was Olds/Buick????
